Transport Options
By plane
Melbourne’s airport, known as Tullamarine Airport is located 20- 30 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD and is linked with shuttles, taxi services, buses and rental cars.
Qantas, Air New Zealand, Jetstar and Virgin Australia offer a range of domestic and international scheduled flights to and from Melbourne, as do most major airlines.
By car
Melbourne can be easily accessed via an extensive road network from within Victoria and the rest of Australia. Click here for more information
By taxi and rideshare
You can access taxis and rideshare services when you arrive. The CBD is a 20–30-minute ride away and taxis will cost about $60 one way. You’ll find taxi ranks at the front of all terminals – simply follow the signs to the nearest ranks. Click here for information on taxis

By train
There is no direct train service from Melbourne Airport to the CBD. However, an interesting and inexpensive way to get from Melbourne Airport to the city is by combined bus and train.
Take the 901 bus to Broadmeadows station (a ride of about 20 minutes) and change to the train for the 40 minute trip to Flinders Street (Melbourne central business district).
You will need to purchase a myki card to pay for all public transport within Melbourne. You can purchase a myki at Metro premium stations, myki machines at all Metro railway stations, some accessible tram stops and bus interchanges (full fare only), at 7-Eleven stores, by calling 1800 800 007 or one of 800 retailers across Melbourne. By shuttle

By rental car
Car rentals at Melbourne Airport are conveniently located directly opposite Terminal 2, International departures and arrivals. Each car rental company is accessible via the walkways from the terminals, and returns through the Terminal Car Park at Terminal 1, 2 & 3. By bus
SkyBus – Melbourne City Express runs express between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne’s CBD, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Check the Skybus website for frequency and departures.
